In the bustling food service industry where every moment for hospitality counts, it’s the unseen personal stories of its workers that move us the most. Telsheda, a cashier with 13 years on and off in the industry, finds joy in providing stellar customer service.
“I started working in the fast food industry for financial instability now it’s more because I just like customer service and it aids me in financial stability.”
Today, we’re sharing her testimony on how community support, specifically from Giving Kitchen, provided vital assistance during a time of unexpected crisis.
A Mother's Resolve Meets a Helping Hand
A hernia, the aftermath of bringing two sets of twins into the world, challenged Telsheda beyond the rigors of her job. In December of 2023, what started as a typical workday took a painful turn, leading to emergency surgery and a weeklong hospital stay. With six children at home, all under the age of three, Telsheda was unable to work, fostering a need that transcended medical recovery—financial support to keep her family afloat.
Giving Kitchen stepped in, transforming anxiety into assurance. Giving Kitchen’s case manager’s quick response meant that Telsheda’s focus could shift from the mounting bills to healing and caring for her family.
