April 2023

Your Support Makes a Difference

It's been a busy and productive month here at Giving Kitchen, as we've seen a 57% year-over-year increase in Ask for Help submissions compared to 2022, and awarded nearly three times the average awarded compared to 2015-2022.

We couldn't have achieved this without your support, particularly through events like Tennessee Tasting and the Taylor Swift Mobile Auction. Since inception, Giving Kitchen has served over 12,596 food service workers and awarded over $8.5 million in financial assistance. Thank you for your generosity and unwavering support of our cause.

April by the Numbers:

  • GK received 594 Ask for Help submissions from 11 states, with $168,154 awarded to food service workers in crisis.

  • Among the recipients were 46 children and 33 additional household members.

  • Through our estimate, we believe that 50 clients, 34 children, and 24 additional household members avoided homelessness.

We're constantly inspired by the resilience and courage of food service workers to ask for help. We are equally inspired by the support of our community, which has allowed us to continue to support our mission to meet crisis with compassion and care.

Giving Kitchen’s first annual Tennessee Tasting was a great success!

Thanks to all who showed up and showed out for food service workers. This event raised nearly $40,000 to help food service workers in crisis! Special thanks to all the chefs who made this event delectable, to Brassfield for rocking the stage, and to the sponsors, volunteers, and guests who brought the good vibes and generous spirit. Thank you to Mayor John Cooper and Laura Cooper for a special appearance, and to the Giving Kitchen Nashville Community Engagement Council for their work raising awareness about and support for GK! Together, we are Giving Kitchen and we help food service workers!

Giving Kitchen’s Nashville Community Engagement Council gathers before Tennessee Tasting to strategize about the future of GK in Nashville and greater Tennessee.
