This past week, Giving Kitchen was thrilled to host our inaugural Forkside Seats event with the Atlanta Hawks — a celebration that brought together over 435 guests, 79 volunteers, and 16 of Atlanta’s hottest new restaurants. As we geared up for this night of sharing culinary joy, good food, and supporting food service workers in crisis, one special moment stood out: our “Family Meal” provided by Kamayan.
Before stepping onto the State Farm Arena floor to serve our Forkside guests, we came together in the Harrah’s Club Room for something truly special — a shared meal and moment of connection.
Chefs, volunteers, and State Farm Arena staff gathered for a family meal thoughtfully prepared by Kamayan. In the midst of event prep, it offered a comforting pause — good food, shared stories, and the understanding that comes from being among people who know this industry and work.
These moments remind us why we do what we do: community, care, and coming together. Kamayan’s generosity set the tone for the night, grounding us in gratitude and unity before we stepped out to serve our wider food service family.
